Esomeprazole Nexium Tablets USP, 20 mg is a prescription medication for the treatment of frequent heartburn. It belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors. These tablets are a part of a class of drugs called a proton pump inhibitor. It works by reducing the amount of acid the stomach makes.
This product is not intended for women and should be used with caution in pregnant women and breastfeeding women.
Do not use if you have serious liver disease, if you have a stomach ulcer, if you have a history of gastrointestinal disease, if you have ever had jaundice or hepatic impairment.
If you are taking an anti-acid medication for heartburn, take it at least 2 hours before or after you reduce the amount of an acid-suppressing drug in your stomach.
If you have heartburn with a recent meal, take it at the same time each day.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Nexium® (esomeprazole magnesium) 20 mg tablet to treat frequent heartburn, and a proton pump inhibitor called esomeprazole for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) prevention in adults and children aged two years and over. The drug is indicated in adults and children as an adjunct to diet and exercise and may be used for patients with GERD who do not respond to standard dietary and exercise management.
